Winning Across the Board for Lady Eagles
Congratulations to the women's tennis team for a hard-fought win on Thursday afternoon against Greenfield. The Eagles started off with a 2-1 lead after doubles by Katie Kos and Sarah Dunn Sawyer at #1 and Elle Jenkins and Maggie Paszek at #2. Annika Polanski, Katie Kos, Theia Dietz, and Sarah Dune Sawyer won their singles courts to give the Eagles a 6-3 victory. It was a complete team effort. Molly Fleming, Kendall Kos, and Mia Lanfranchi also won their matches in a dominant performance.
The JV volleyball team earned a hard-fought conference victory, defeating its opponent 27-25, 25-22. After falling behind by eight points in the opening set, the team showed tremendous resilience and battled back to win 27-25. The momentum carried into the second set, where strong serving, communication, and teamwork helped the team secure a 25-22 victory and complete the conference sweep. Savannah Norton served 8 straight points in the first set to put RMA up by 1 and then Ryleigh Evans closed out the set with an ace. Norton and Locklyn Flowers each finished the night with 13 points. RMA got great defense from Ella Lauer and Molly Jackson. Emma Claire Martin and Ryleigh Evans dominated offensively at the net. RMA will return to action on Tuesday against Epiphany.
The Middle School volleyball team won its 12th match of the season on Thursday by defeating Greenfield Academy in two sets. Kerrigan Stinson served 6 points, and Ava Davis Pittman served 5 to lead the team to victory in the first set. In the second set, Fiona Lewis and Dallas Rackley led the team in serves with 6 service points. Caroline Bulluck and Mary Douglas Robillard, along with Dallas Rackley, headed up a strong defense. The teams Mets up with Epiphany on Tuesday for what will be an exciting match, as Epiphany was one of the two losses that Middle School had this season.

A Night of Wins for RMA Volleyball
The Eagles Varsity Volleyball team defeated Wayne Country Day School on September 29, sweeping the Chargers 25-18, 25-22, and 25-14.
Freshman setter Locklyn Flowers led the offense with 28 assists, while junior setter Allison Copeland added five. Their combined effort helped sophomore outside hitter Charlotte Burns record 32 kills. Defensively, Savannah Norton led the team with 12 digs, followed by Burns with five and junior Kaylen Evans with three. At the net, Burns recorded one solo block, while middle Emma Claire Martin added two and Gabbi Brys-Wilson had one. At the service line, Brys-Wilson led with several long runs, while Evans, Norton, and Flowers each contributed multiple aces.

The JV Volleyball team earned an impressive conference victory on Tuesday, defeating their opponent in straight sets, 25–17 and 25–14.
The Eagles controlled the match from the opening serve, using strong serving, solid defense, and consistent teamwork to secure the win. Rocky Mount Academy jumped out to an early lead in the first set, led by Locklyn Flowers scoring the first 12 points and finishing the night with 26 points. Additionally, Emma-Claire Martin, Ryleigh Evans and Molly Jackson kept the pressure on with aggressive play at the net. In the second set, the Eagles continued their strong performance, building an early advantage behind excellent defensive efforts from Savannah Norton and Ella Lauer. The final score of the second set was 25–14, to complete the sweep.
The Middle School volleyball team won its 11th match of the season on Tuesday, defeating Wayne Country Day School in two sets. The Eagles dominated the first set, winning 25-6, behind the strong serving of Tomiwa Awe and Eliza Wooten. Chandler Brown and Dallas Rackley contributed a strong defensive effort in the win. The second set started strong, with Mary Douglas Robillard netting 9 service points. The Lady Eagles faltered and allowed Wayne Country Day to come back, but ultimately won the set and match.
Varsity Volleyball Team Pulls Out A Win in 5 Sets
The Varsity volleyball team defeated the Cyclones of Community Christian last night in a five-set thriller, 15-25, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19, and 18-16. This marked their most intense match of the season and was a true team win.
The Eagles were led offensively by freshman setter Locklyn Flowers, who tallied 32 assists for the match, followed by junior Allison Copeland with 12 assists. Flowers and Copeland fed Burns for a career-high 41 kills on 99 attempts for the day.
Burns also topped her previous highs defensively, racking up 23 digs and 6 solo blocks against the Cyclones. Libero Savannah Norton followed with 15 digs. Emma Claire Martin added two solo blocks and one block assist in the middle, including a key play to tie the match late in the third set. Kaylen Evans matched Martin with two solo blocks.
Freshman Ryleigh Evans and sophomore Gabbi Brys-Wilson rounded out the team effort with scrappy defense and consistent serving throughout the match, sustaining the Eagles and earning their victory.
The team will travel to Wayne Country Day next Tuesday and Greenfield next Thursday. Congratulations on a hard-fought Homecoming week win, ladies!
Eagles JV Football Team Delivers A Win
The Rocky Mount Academy JV football team delivered a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, overpowering Arendell Parrott Academy for a convincing 50–22 victory.
RMA set the tempo early, surging to a 22–8 lead in the first quarter and extending their advantage to 38–8 by halftime. RMA’s offensive unit operated with remarkable efficiency, amassing 307 total yards across just 27 plays. The team relied heavily on an explosive rushing attack that generated 237 yards and six touchdowns on 19 carries:
-Connor Buck, led the backfield with 144 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on 10 carries. Buck added 20 yards on a punt return and threw a 10-yard completion to Kayden David.
-Powers Berry, made the most of his opportunities, breaking free for 50 yards and a touchdown on just 2 carries.
-Cameron Dixon, was efficient near the end zone, carrying 5 times for 43 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also converting two 2-point attempts.
-Ja'hlonie Pitt, added a successful 2-point conversion to round out the scoring opportunities.
-Turner Cobb, controlled the field position game on special teams, racking up 110 yards on 8 kickoffs.
Defensively, RMA swarmed the ball, recording 37 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss (TFL), and 3 sacks.
-Kayden David:, anchored the defense with 9 solo tackles, 5 TFLs, and a sack.
-Joseph Merando, made a strong impact in the backfield with 3 solo tackles, 1 assist, 4 TFLs, and 2 sacks.
-Cameron Dixon, made the defensive highlight of the night, taking an interception 40 yards back for a touchdown.
-Graham Bellamy & Hagen Strickland, provided additional defensive support, combining for 5 solo tackles and a TFL.
-Powers Berry & Jax Grimes, combined for 3 solo tackles and an assist to wrap up key defensive stops.
Despite racking up 60 yards on 4 penalties, RMA controlled the rhythm throughout the contest, securing nine first downs and holding off a late 14-point fourth-quarter push by Arendell Parrott to seal the win.

Thursday was a busy day for RMA sports! We are so proud of our athletes. We had some big wins, but more importantly, our athletes are learning about good sportsmanship, teamwork, and giving their best.
Tennis: Congratulations to the women's tennis team for their victory over Greenfield on Thursday afternoon. Theia Dietz closed out the match with a dominating performance to give the Eagles a 7-2 win.
JV Soccer: The JV Soccer team won their game Thursday against Greenfield by a score of 7-1. Goals were scored by Wood Berry, Braxton Tyler, Carter Jones, Eli Lanfranchi, Benjamin Whitehead, and Gavin Dogaci. The defense was led by Tristan Kim, Riley Evans, Jack Lea, and keeper Tucker Gupton.
Middle School Volleyball: The RMA Middle School Volleyball team defeated Greenfield Academy in two sets on Thursday to collect its 9th win of the season. In the first set, Tomiwa Awe and Kerigan Stinson led the serving with 6 and 5 points, respectively. There was good play at the net by Kara Plonski, Eliza Wooten, and Manar Abukaff. The second set had the Lady Eagles working hard and winning some important volleys. Great defense by Chandler Brown and Dallas Rackley kept the team in the game, while great serving by Caroline Bulluck, Maggie Whitehurst, and Kendall Edgar helped to seal the win.
JV Football: The JV Football team delivered a dominant performance, soaring past Lawrence Academy in a 50–8 victory that showcased a total team effort from start to finish.
The Eagles' offense was unstoppable, racking up a massive 453 yards and 6 touchdowns. Powers Berry led the relentless ground attack, exploding for 103 rushing yards and finding the end zone twice. Complementing Berry’s big-play performance, Connor Buck anchored the drive with 33 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns of his own.
Defensively, the Eagles shut down Lawrence Academy at every turn. The unit combined for 33 total tackles, spearheaded by physical play from line leaders Davis Cobb and Connor Buck. With explosive plays on offense and a rock-solid defense, the JV squad put together a complete team victory.
