RMA Cross Country on Sep. 10, 2026
The Rocky Mount Academy Cross Country Team traveled to Goldsboro to compete at the Wayne Country Day hosted meet, where the Eagles had strong running performances across the board.
For the Boys:
Competing in his first meet, 7th grader Alex Moss came in 8th place. 7th grader Lake Tobias took 14th. 9th grader Ben York took 19th. And 9th grader Gatlin Jenkins finished strong in his first meet with a 10th place finish.
The Eagle girls cross-country team had a very impressive night!
8th grader Margaret Chaffin came 2nd overall, followed by: freshman Lia Lemley in 6th, freshman Savannah Stephens in 7th, junior Elizabeth Chesnutt in 12th.
Our up-and-coming 6th grade runners: Lila Murray, Ava Hudgins, Noah Denton and Coltan York all had strong and impressive finishes in the unsanctioned 6th
grade race.
On September 11, the Varsity Boy’s Cross-country team will be traveling to Kernersville to participate in the Friday Night Lights Cross Country Event, which is sure to be an exciting evening!

RMA JV Football Team Dominates in 62-28 Victory
Rocky Mount Academy JV Dominates Community Christian in 62-28 Victory
The Rocky Mount Academy JV football team delivered a masterclass performance on both sides of the ball, surging to an imposing 62-28 victory over Community Christian.
RMA established dominance early, shutting out CCS 24-0 in the first quarter and never looking back.
The offense operated with lethal efficiency, racking up 287 total yards across just 26 plays. Philip Dixon spearheaded the offensive explosion, delivering a highlight reel game with 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns on eight carries, alongside two catches for 48 yards and another score.
Playmaker Buck contributed significantly as well, putting up 54 rushing yards with a touchdown while going 2-for-2 through the air for 48 yards and a passing touchdown. RMA finished the night with 427 all-purpose yards.
Defensively, Rocky Mount Academy was aggressive and opportunistically lethal. The unit tallied 49 total tackles and four tackles for loss, led by heavy production from Powers Berry (7 tackles), James Sessoms (5 tackles, 1 pass tip), Joseph Merando (5 tackles, 2 TFL), Ja'hlonie Pitt (5 tackles, 2 TFL), and Colton Walters (3 tackles). The defense turned game-changers into points by picking off three Community Christian passes for 120 return yards and two defensive touchdowns, highlighted by matching 55-yard pick-sixes from both Pitt and David; Graham Bellamy added another interception for a short return.
20 Eagles were able to contribute to their team on the defensive side of ball tonight including Bryce Eilers, Hagen Strickland, Davis Cobb, Michael-Jon-Tillman, Samuel Currie, Micah Calhoun, Colton Walters, Jax Grimes, Kaz Bradley, Corbin Clark, and Weston Strickland.
Converting on 7 of 8 two-point attempts, RMA capped off a complete team win that highlighted their explosive speed, opportunistic defense, and unrelenting execution from start to finish.
