ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate) is a nationally recognized training program sanctioned by the US Department of Education and many Law Enforcement Agencies that teaches children (and staff) of all ages, safety measures that should be taken if an active shooter is on a school campus. The training is age appropriate and teaches children about safety without scaring them. We have shared a version of this training with our 6-12 grade students and the lower school teachers have discussed some of the safety tidbits with their students, without emphasizing a potential active shooter. We are offering two ALICE training sessions for any interested parent/caretaker/adult family or community member on Tuesday, November 12 from 12:00-1:00 (bring your lunch if you would like) and 5:30-6:30 on the same day. Please join us for one of these sessions if you can, and bring a friend or two! Information about ALICE training can be found at https://www.alicetraining.com/ We ask that you RSVP to Susan Morgan by November 10 to smorgan@rmacademy or by calling 443-4126 if you can join us, so we will make sure we have seating for all and space for childcare if needed.
