Teachers seriously committed to developing all aspects of their students ensure that none of the excitement is missed. Every year our seniors are surveyed about what they like best about RMA. The answer is always the same: the faculty. That's because RMA faculty care about our students. Not just about their grades or behavior, but about their well-being. Small classes allow our faculty to really get to know their students. They help them capitalize on their strengths and improve on their weaknesses. They have the freedom to teach in the best possible way to challenge our students to speak up, to take risks, to lead and to succeed. As lifelong learners, faculty members guide our students as they learn, grow and make discoveries for themselves along the road to becoming lifelong learners as well.

The faculty believe small classes provide the optimum teaching opportunities. In the classroom they:

  • engage each student daily in the learning process
  • provide prompt feedback to students and parents
  • conduct individual, small and full class learning activities
  • carry out thorough student evaluations
  • promote appropriate expectations for each student
  • are sensitive to the student as a learner and person
  • promote individual integrity

Help When You Need It

Our teachers are often found in their rooms before the school day begins and often stay beyond the end of the day to help students, talk with parents and plan lessons. Outside of the classroom, each upper school student meets regularly with a faculty advisor who assists the student in a variety of ways helping with course selections, monitoring progress in classes, or just checking in from time to time to make sure things are going well.
