Participation Myths and Facts about RMA Athletics

Our athletics programs encourage students to be doers rather than spectators. Athletics promote competition, physical conditioning and cooperation, and are an important component of student life. By participating on any of the 27 athletic teams, our students learn discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship. At Rocky Mount Academy more than 90% of students in grades seven through 12 participate on one or more athletic teams. In recent years, our athletic teams have successfully competed in regional and state competition. Many of our athletes have distinguished themselves in regional, state and national competition. The school is a member of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletics Association and the Eastern Plains Independent Conference (EPIC).

P.E. Promotes Activity Our physical education program encourages student to be active. In first through eighth grade, students participate in physical education four or five days a week, taught by experienced P.E. faculty members. Activities center around motor skills development, sportsmanship, teamwork and skills development in specific sports. | ||||
