Going to school at Rocky Mount Academy is not just about learning the 3 R's. It is an experience both inside and outside the classroom. Our Mission would not be complete if we limited our attention as a school just on the academics. We are concerned about developing the whole child and setting the course for him or her to be a well-rounded, responsible adult.
Yes, in order to be prepared for life and college, a student needs good organizational skills, time management skills, needs to experience triumphs and failures, needs to know how to work well with others, and a host of other necessary traits. But any adult visiting this website knows that (contrary to what popular books want you to believe) not everything that you learned in life was learned in a classroom.
We recognize that students get invaluable experience and life lessons from participating in activities on campus and through the school. In a smaller school like Rocky Mount Academy, the opportunity to take a role in student life is much more readily available. We offer many extracurricular activites, as you will see in this section of our website, and our expectation is that students will find their niche and get involved. When their days at RMA are over, they can look back on them and truly see that they made a difference in their school.
